Have you ever had an encounter with what you believed to be not of this earth? If so, you’re definitely not alone. Of course, the topic of aliens and all things extraterrestrial is nothing new, but a recent senate hearing shed some light on new information pertaining to UFOs (Unidentified Flying Object), UAPs (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena), and of course, aliens. On July 26, 2023 a hearing was held where 3 former military officials shared encounters that either they themselves or their teammates had witnessed. They also claimed that the government knows more about aliens than they’ve led us to believe. 7th and 8th grade English teacher Ms. Eidelman gives some credence to the hearings, stating “I fully believe it all to be true. I do not think he was lying under oath. That doesn’t mean there is an immediate threat to us, but humans have the right to know.”
So, why does this have anything to do with PCS? You may have seen some flyers posted around the school, asking you to fill out a survey about aliens. We were curious to know what students think about the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and whether they believe it to exist or not. Out of the 100 students that participated in the poll 95% believe that life exists outside of planet earth. However, only 41% believe humans have actually come in contact with either UFO’s, UAP’s, or Aliens. What about teachers? Ms. Gal, 7th and 9th grade science teacher, said “I think the universe is too vast to not have the potential for cells, DNA, and life in other solar systems or parts of the universe.” From national news to our very own school community, the prospect of extraterrestrial life has captured much attention. So, what do you think, do you believe in aliens?
